Cervical Spondylosis Hazards

In recent years, more and more people suffer from cervical spondylosis.  General, cervical spine problems can affect the cervical spine and some other body parts. However, many people do not know that cervical spondylosis can also cause other hazards.

Hazard 1: Stroke

According to incomplete statistics of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, more than 90% of stroke patients have cervical spondylosis. The terrible thing is that many people do not pay attention to it. It is often after onset that patients found that their cervical spondylosis induces brain nerve compression thus leading to stroke.

Hazard 2: Cataplexy

It is mainly caused by compression of the vertebral artery. Many patients are misdiagnosed as neuropathic migraine due to the lack of attention to cervical spine health. Patients without being properly treated for a long time will have cerebral congestion and sudden cataplexy in some severe cases.

Hazard 3: Cerebral infarction, brain atrophy

Many patients with cervical spondylosis have cerebral infarction and cerebral atrophy due to vertebral artery spasm and embolism.

Hazard 4: Paralysis

Many patients have insufficient knowledge of cervical spondylosis and do not pay attention to it. Without timely treatment, stimulation and compression of spinal cord and nerves caused by cervical spondylosis can easily lead to unilateral or bilateral upper limb paralysis or urinary incontinence.

Hazard 5: Frequent tinnitus and even deafness

Many patients with cervical spondylosis suffer from compression of the spine and damage to the sympathetic nerve endings of the cervical spine, resulting in insufficient blood supply, which eventually leads to severe consequences of frequent tinnitus and even deafness.

Hazard 6: Neurogenic gastrointestinal dysfunction

Many people have “gastric ulcer” that lasts for a long term or recur repeatedly. In fact, this is caused by neurogenic gastrointestinal dysfunction induced by the blockage of the cervical vertebral artery.

Hazard 7: Facial muscle atrophy, facial paralysis

Many patients with cervical spondylosis have facial muscle atrophy and facial paralysis caused by vertebral artery spasm and embolism.

Hazard 8: Stubborn insomnia, neuropathy

Through clinical observation, 70% of patients with intractable insomnia and neurasthenia have cervical spondylosis, but even many doctors are not aware of it in the early treatment. Treating insomnia blindly will miss the best period of treatment and eventually lead to severe depression or mental disorders.

Hazard 9: Cerebral thrombosis

A large proportion of patients will develop from cervical spondylosis to disc deformation, vascular variation, lesions, resulting in blockage of blood vessels, insufficient blood supply, leading to the induction of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases due to the lack of attention to cervical spondylosis, develop.

Hazard 10: Menopause Syndrome

Harm 11: Shoulder periarthritis, shoulder stiffness

Since cervical vertebrae 2-7 affects shoulder and arm muscles, if there is a problem in the cervical spine, it will cause related muscle stiffness, resulting in shoulder periarthritis and stiffness.

Hazard 12: Thyroid disease

Hazard 14: Throat problems and cough

Hazard 15: Numbness and pain in fingers and arms

Many people simply believe that the occurrence of cervical spondylosis will only affect the cervical spine. With the development of the disease, it will cause some hazards of other parts.

1. Esophagus

Cervical spondylosis will make patients feel foreign bodies in their esophagus in normal times. Some people will often have problem in swallowing, and a few people will have symptoms  like nausea, vomiting, and chest tightness, etc. Do not simply take it as a habit or throat problem when patients have difficulty in swallowing, it is cervical spondylosis sometimes.

2. Vision issues

Cervical spondylosis will also lead to visual impairment, so that patients would have symptoms such as vision loss, photophobia, tearing, and even blindness in some severe cases.

3. Numbness of limbs

Cervical spondylosis will cause numbness and pain in limbs in serious cases. A few patients will also have abnormal defecation and urination functions, such as frequency of urination, urgency of urination, incontinence of urine and urine, etc. When the condition is serious, if the vertebral nerve is compressed, it will easily lead to lower limb paralysis.

4. Brain problems

Cervical spondylosis is likely to lead to brain damage, which will cause patients to have dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, and other symptoms. In severe cases, it will lead to insufficient blood supply to the brain thus leading to dementia and other diseases. If patients often find you dizzy, nausea, and vomiting, a detailed examination on cervical spine in time is necessary.

Many people are familiar with cervical spondylosis, but usually they have doubt with the specific location of the disease. Experts said that the disease usually occurs in the lower part of the neck, that is, the 6-7th section of the cervical spine. At present, many young people keep their neck muscles tension for a long time due to long time bad posture, which affects the cervical part muscles and lead to the disease.

Cervical spondylosis is extremely harmful to the body. It will not only affect the life of patients, but also bring a series of related diseases to them, thus damaging their bodies. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the disease and to maintain a good posture in daily life. In addition, it is wise to exercise necks to prevent muscles tension so as not to cause problems and neck damage.
