Ten Years of Deep Research: Helping Patients Move Again
According to the *China Stroke Prevention and Treatment Report (2023)*, the prevalence of stroke among people aged 40 and above in China has reached 12.42 million, with the affected population becoming younger. Among survivors, approximately 75% have sequelae, and 40% are severely disabled. For a large number of patients with walking impairments or disabilities, over 90% rely solely on medication or assistance from caregivers for limb rehabilitation, with minimal effect. Without long-term treatment, these conditions could ultimately lead to lifelong paralysis, severely affecting patients' ability to perform daily activities.
Theories and clinical trials have shown that the central nervous system has plasticity, and stimulation of motor functions and sensations plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of patients with neurological diseases. Based on this theory, the Gait Training and Assessment System was born.
In 2012, after five years of independent research and development, Yikang Medical successfully launched the A3 gait training and assessment system. The product targeted rehabilitation treatment for walking impairments caused by neurological injuries, such as stroke (cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage), and received clinical recognition from top rehabilitation hospitals nationwide, including Taiwan.
In 2014, the first A3-M entered the rehabilitation medicine department and reached patients.
